At HGSS, we are always looking to raise aspirations and ensure students achieve the best possible outcomes. We assess the students twice per year and report those results in February and July for Years 7-10 and Year 12, and in December and April for Years 11 and 13. Each assessment is given a percentage score and students are ranked within the subject and overall in the year group. 

We use Rank Order assessment in addition to traditional grading so that parents and students understand their performance in relation to their year group. Rather than being demotivating, our students engage with their rank order positions and are keen to move up the rank order. As a school, we can identify students quickly when they drop in the rank order and put in place appropriate interventions.
