Year 13 Mentoring Programme
Over the past half-term, we have been fortunate enough to have a number of our Year 13 students come back into school to help provide support and guidance to other students. They have been supporting in a number of subjects including: Maths, English, Science, Humanities and Photography amongst others. They have mainly been working with year 10, 12 and 9 students; assisting them in subjects that they have found difficult due to lock down, helping them fill in missing gaps and gain more confidence in those subjects.
Students overwhelmingly have really enjoyed the experience and spoke about how much it has helped them, working individually or in small groups. The year 13 mentors have also spoken about their enjoyment of being able to come back to HGSS and help those students, but to also gain more confidence themselves before they set off on their next chapter, be it university, apprenticeships or employment.
We would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to those students, whose professionalism and support has been appreciated by both students and staff and wish them good luck for the future.
