Sixth Form Academic Results 2020
Holmer Green Senior School is celebrating the excellent results of its A Level and BTEC Level 3 students in a very unusual year. Results have further improved this year which reflects the tireless work ethic of our students, staff, parents and Governors. Not only have students had to contend with their normal studies, but then also a curtailed term and the pressure/anxiety of not having the chance to show what they can do in an exam. In the academic subjects, 12% of grades were A*, 37% of grades were A*-A, 67% of the grades were A*-B and 92% being A*-C. The overall pass rate at A Level was 100% which is a great achievement.
Our students have achieved a range of excellent destinations including Oxbridge and prestigious Russell Group universities, such as Cambridge, Manchester, Exeter, Warwick, Southampton, St Andrews, Edinburgh and Loughborough to study courses like English, Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Politics & International Relations and Costume & Performance Design.
Star performers included: Lauren (A*, A*, A*, Distinction*); Ollie (A* , A* , A, A); Emma (A* , A* , Distinction); Claudia (A* , A* , Dis); Halima (A* , A , A); Sophie (A* , A , Dis*) and Robert (A , A , A, Distinction) to name a few.
A range of our Departments have continued to challenge HGSS students to excel. In Mathematics, Art, Geography, and Religious Studies, 40% of students or more achieved A*-A grades. In Art 47% of students, achieved A* grades which is an exceptional achievement. Such grades have enabled close to 30% of our students achieving Oxbridge/Russell group places. This emphasises our aspirational Sixth Form culture and the exceptional hard work by students and staff alike to bring the best out of each other.

We are extremely proud of all the hard work invested by the community of students, staff, parents and Governors at HGSS. The team work is truly exceptional, and all individuals reflect well our values of ‘Work Hard, Be Kind’. As a non-selective school, to be significantly above the national average for A* and A*-A grades is testament to Holmer Green’s academic ethos. To have a student that has got into Cambridge from a non-selective school says everything and close to 30% of students getting into Russell group universities. 67% of our students achieved A*-B grades and 92% A*-C grades. At Holmer Green we continue to refute the notion that 11+ or SATs results create a ceiling for a student’s aspirations. Our focus on individuals and giving them the right support means that they flourish. Our Mathematics, Art, Geography and Religious Studies Departments have delivered excellent results. Rachel Golding and Kelly Harrison, our Head and Deputy Head of Sixth Form have worked tenaciously on a first class UCAS process as well as leading a great team of teachers who demand and receive excellence from all our students.
