Ski Trip to Austria 2020
Thursday 20 February: Fantastic last day skiing for all groups! Top 2 groups skied over to Leogang and took part in time trials! The other 2 groups spent the day on the top of the mountain in Saalbach - all are superstar skiers now! Great final night at the disco and now all on the coach starting our journey back home! Fabulous trip - all the kids have been such a credit to HGSS! Proud of them all!
Wednesday 19 February: Fabulous days skiing for all groups! Top group have skied across multiple mountains! All othe groups at the top of Hinterglemm today enjoying the jumps and fun parks! The instructors are truly impressed with everyone’s progress! It has snowed all afternoon and will probably snow tonight so we may have to stay in for a games evening! Tuesday 18 February: Fabulous day for every group! Both beginners up to the top of the mountain with impressive progress! Third group also at the top and tackled the jumps today! Top group on the more difficult jump park and smashed a long mogul run! Yesterday’s stars- Emily Mason, Brandon Little, Carlos Mulvaney, Amy Woodhead, George Roscoe, Kiera Fowler
Monday 17 February: Great Day 2 - Top group on the jumps and learnt Ballerina Turns! Fab day skiing from the top all day! Second group had an amazing day skiing from the top all day as well - the instructor was so impressed with their improvement! Both beginners groups have also made excellent progress and taking instruction well! They should be on the mountain tomorrow! Yesterday’s stars Liv Harrison, Keira Sutton, Zoe Walastyan, Leela Brookes and Jess Riley! Off to curling tonight!
Sunday 16 February: Great first day for everyone! Top group have had several runs from the top of the mountain with Mr Larkin and all did really well. Beginners plus with Mrs Jackson spent the day getting up to speed on the nursery slopes and everyone performing great turns by the end! Both beginners groups have also done really well and had progressed to the top of the nursery slope by the end of the afternoon! Everyone enjoyed the hot lunch at the very top of the mountain - this was the view!!
It was also Bingo night!
Saturday 15 February: Arrived at 5pm - all very excited to visit the ski hire shop
BushCraft 2019
3 July - 6 or 7 staff also slept outside by the fire last night - fire still burning!
2 July - Great second day. Students sleeping in their shelters again. Salmon and pizza lunch went down well.
2 July 2019 - 8.30am: All up (some students slept in their self built shelters) and having breakfast
1 July 2019 - 8.30pm: Great first day at Camp Bushcraft. BBQs built, songs sung, lots of food eaten and now settling down to hot chocolate before bed. Pancakes for breakfast!
1 July 2019 - 12 noon: Fire making (supervised of course)
1 July 2019 - 10.40am: All arrived safely and have drinks and snacks
Ypres - April 2019
Sunday 8 April: Safely back after delays on the M25. Great trip - but students are minus muddy boots (left on the coach!)
Sunday 7 April: Due back at 5pm, not 6pm!
Saturday 6 April: Visited Lochnager Crater / Thiepal where students spent time finding their relatives on the memorial. Fantastic weather - sun cream needed: Photo below is Newfoundland Memorial and Beaumont Hamel
Friday 5 April: Wreath laying tonight by Olivia Condon and Grace Milner
Friday 5 April: Arrived safely at Sanctuary Wood Hill 62 in Belgium
New York - April 2019
Saturday 13 April: Last full day today. Tour of the Capitol Building and stop off at the Supreme Court before getting caught up in a parade and visiting the museums on The Mall.
Friday 12 April: Walking Tour of Washing DC today - seeing all the monuments on The Mall and learning about the tidal basin.
Thursday 11 April: Arrived in Washington DC - loving it!
Wednesday 10 April: We spent this afternoon shopping and visiting Central Park.
Wednesday 10 April: Currently sat in the Security Council at the UN after a meeting about Venezuela with VP Mike Pence.
Wednesday 10 April: Visit to the UN today in glorious wether - passed by Trump's motorcade whilst awaiting at security!
Tuesday 9 April: Spent the morning at the 9/11 Tribute Museum. Had an incredible talk from Jeanmarie Hargreave who lost her brother TJ. Lots of tears. Students leaving messages of remembrance.

Thursday 21 February
Fabulous last full day with all groups showing amazing progress from the beginning of the week including both beginner groups who are now all skiing blue and some red runs with confidence. Races and presentation tomorrow! Stars of the day: Jack Eaton, Sam Rints, Max Byrne, Marcus Chalk, Sam Pullen, Mr Barker, Tom Adkins, Jack Murphy, Emma Jackson, Brandon Belmar. Numpty of the Day: Grady Vines!

Games night tonight
Tuesday 19 February
All groups progressing really well! Miss Stratton had a fantastic day with the expert group who went to ski park after fir jumps and were joined by the first intermediate group. Beginners 2 continued to progress and beginners 1 went to the top of the mountain for the first time!. Off to dinner and then the Disco!

Monday 18 February
Fantastic second day skiing. The expert group had an amazing day on the black runs - well done Miss Clarke for keeping up! Both intermediate groups skied across black and red all day. The higher beginner group went to the top of the mountain with Mrs Jackson and they managed brilliantly with blue and red runs and also tackled the jump park! Amazing for Day 2! The lower beginners continued to progress on the higher nursery slope and will be going to the top tomorrow. Stars of the day: Makena Smith, Grady Vines, Matilda Davidson, Ben Labanski, Jake Randall - Numpty of the Day: James Alexander!
Great time bowling this evening - Jake Bakey a natural bowling superstar!
Sunday 17 February
Great snow conditions this morning and the weather is warm. Successful day for the intermediates from the top of the mountain with red runs all day! The expert group had a fantastic day with Mr Barker and both beginner groups have progressed really well for day 1. All enjoying it despite the aching!

Saturday 16 February
7.30am Stopped just north of Strasbourg for breakfast. Approximately 2 hours behind schedule due to delays at Eurotunnel. Expected time of arrival at the hotel is 5pm.
Good progress being made and stunning scenery!
4.30pm Not such good progess - now stuck in traffic in Austria - eta now 8pm
7.15pm Arrived at Hotel - exhausted!
Berlin October 2019
The group arrives safely after a very early start and were soon out touring the city.
Saturday 26 October - the day started with a tour of the Jewish Quarter and a visit to the Soviet Memorial
Bowling at the brand new bowling alley was fun! Visit to the Reichstag very enjoyable too. Students are being impeccably well behaved and trip leaders are incredibly proud of them all.
